Richard “Jeff” Jeffers graduated from The Ohio State University while managing a painting business on the side. Meeting the Porters (and getting to know Garth’s) through that enterprise, Jeff left Ohio to pursue a restaurant franchise. Having enjoyed his time in Delaware, Jeff kept in touch with the Porters, and soon he and Amelia were meeting them at various antique shows throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania. The Porters started sending the young couple their catalogs and several trade papers and magazines. Once they were hooked, the move back to Central Ohio to pursue ownership of Garth’s was an easy one. Jeff attended The Missouri Auction School in 1997, and became a member of The Certified Appraisers Guild of America in 1999. Jeff’s warm and friendly nature contributes to his reputation as a great auctioneer. Exposure to over 30,000 objects a year, a keen memory, and a zest for research have developed a quick and sure eye, trusted by countless buyers. A very hands-on manager, Jeff impacts every lot that sells through Garth’s.

Amelia Jeffers attended West Virginia University, where she met Jeff after he opened his first restaurant. A strong partnership from the beginning, Amelia and Jeff committed to building a business alongside their marriage. A willingness to learn from the bottom up has given Amelia a thorough understanding of Garth’s, allowing her to confidently manage all aspects of the business. Concentrating her efforts on the marketing and public relations, Amelia spearheaded the move to digital photography and full-size, full-color catalogs. Today, Garth’s catalogs are among the most appreciated in the business. Amelia attended the Mid-Ohio School of Auctioneering in early 2008. She brings passion and enthusiasm to every situation.
