PAINTED "PLANTATION" DESK. Two-piece pine with old red brown paint over traces of earlier red with a desirable worn crazed finish. Bold crown molding projects over two panel doors, opening to warm pine interior with cubbyholes and two fixed shelves. The base has a framed lift lid writing surface with good overhang, opening to a storage compartment and a false drawer front. Curlicue brackets frame tapered legs. Minor replacement and edge loss. Second quarter 19th Century. American. 71"h. 35 3/4"w. 28"d. 30 1/2" writing height.
